I can totally understand your consternation here at the effects of insulin shots. It is not a very pleasant feeling. However, I would advise you to ask your doctor the reason for switching you to insulin shots from pills. You should also ask your doctor if the dosage is correct. Do not switch back to pills without the express permission of your doctor. After all, the doctor knows best.

Please void ayurvedic medicine completely for the treatment of diabetes. Many would say otherwise, but studies have shown and doctors agree that ayurvedic medicine adversely affects the kidneys and heart in people with diabetes.  Ayurvedic medicine does nothing to control your blood sugar levels. You should take allopathic medicines and follow healthy diabetic friendly diet and exercise regularly to treat diabetes.

My only advice here would be to take her to the hospital or emergency care immediately. Your mother’s blood sugar level is too high.

First of all, let me state this very strongly that you should never skip your insulin dose without consulting your doctor. You are fortunate or this could have lead to a major problem.

Always consult your diabetologist before taking such decisions. In fact, you should consult your diabetologist right now and tell him/her about this.

Regarding your question – In Type 2 diabetes, some amount of insulin is formed by the pancreas and that might be the cause for normal blood sugar level in your body, However, this can change anytime. Hence, it’s imperative that you should contact your diabetologist immediately.

Since your blood sugar level is less than 6 (it would have helped if you could have given a specific number), it can be assumed that you are in prediabetic stage. You can still avoid moving into the diabetic stage by following healthy and diabetic friendly dietary habits and being regular at physical activities like exercising, walking, jogging etc.

If you drink and/or smoke, you should quit.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of exercising. Do it daily.

Regarding whether you should go for another test, I would suggest that you should check your fasting blood sugar for three consecutive days.
